Everything's HOT in Miami

Shortly after returning from our separate vacations David and I headed out on another adventure and ended up in Miami Florida. Miami was where this year's IADR (International Association of Dental Research - - honestly have no idea what the letters stand for, but dental and research are incorporated somehow, and this looks pretty official to me...) conference was held. Research has been a big part of David's day-to-day life over the past year and so when he was accepted to come and present his research he jumped at the opportunity, and I jumped at the chance to get out of the apartment!

Initially, the plan was for Lexi to come with us. However, after arriving in Utah without a supervising adult in the car, I realized that my parents still view me as a teenager. And thus, mom accompanied me on the road trip back to Cali - and also volunteered to be a babysitter so that Lexi would not have to endure a 5.5 hour flight (and by Lexi endure of course i mean, 'me endure with Lexi').

It was a quick trip, only two nights. Miami was very hot and humid, which both David and I liked. Having lived in Ohio, and David in Texas - we were both used to the general sense of 'moisture'. Our hotel was classified as an "Art Deco Masterpiece" which probably should have sounded some warning bells... though, it was right on the beach so I can't really complain about that. Most of the trip was spent outside sitting in the sun, or outside looking for something to eat - overall, a success if i do say so.

Miami as a whole is not a place i really need to revisit though. It was definitely not a family place - i practically had to walk around with my hand over David's eyes the whole trip. Let's just say not much of left to the imagination in South Beach! But, it was fun to go somewhere new and have a couple of days to go longer than 10 seconds without having to say "no lexi".
